Welcome to the Junior League of Greater Princeton website!

Our site provides a wealth of information about who we are and what we do.  Whether you’re a prospective member, prospective donor or someone interested in learning more about the Junior League of Greater Princeton (JLGP), we hope that you’ll find what you’re looking for as you explore our website.

Since its founding in 1921, the JLGP has promoted voluntarism, developed the potential of women and helped to improve the Greater Princeton community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.   We accomplish this through hands-on project work, community partnerships, and advocacy. We also provide financial support through our annual grants and scholarship program.  Our over 340 provisional, active, and sustaining members come from from Bucks (PA), Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset counties (NJ) and the surrounding areas.    The Junior League of Greater Princeton is a 501(c)3 organization and is part of the Association of Junior Leagues International, which includes 292 Junior Leagues in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Great Britain. Through our major impact project, ROCKETS ("Raising Our Children's Knowledge by Educating Through Science"), we strive to improve our community by increasing the literacy skills of young children and their parents.  We are entering the 5th year of providing our program to the preschoolers at the Trenton Head Start and 2nd year at the Princeton YWCA Child Care Center at Valley Road School.  The curriculum we offer includes hands-on classroom activities, take-home assignments for the children and their parents to complete together, and field trips to exciting places such as the Philadelphia Zoo, Franklin Institute and Camden Aquarium. Read more about ROCKETS. We primarily fund our community programs and projects through our biennial fundraiser, Designer Showhouse & Gardens.  This well-known event began in 1974 and we’ll host Designer Showhouse & Gardens XVI in April/May 2010. For each Showhouse, the JLGP selects interior and landscape designers to design and decorate spaces within and outside a home in the greater Princeton area.  Click here to read more about our previous Showhouses and find information on the upcoming event.
